Acknowledging the ways in which the physical embodiment of an institution might limit its ability to adapt to technological and social changes, "The Allegory" uses a snapshot of a traditional cinema as a foundation for spacial experimentation in film institutions. Ideas of relativity in cinema consumption are explored through Josef Albers’ study of color relativity in his work “Homage to the Square”, represented here as “Protected Blue”. The conjuncture of the alternative theater settings ask questions about how our contextual awareness and relative perception of reality has the potential to change the cognitive and social impact of watching film.
