SUMMER 2024STUDENTS
The Future of Commuting
During the Spring Term of 2024, 15 students of Taubman college visited Clément Blanchet in Paris, France, as a part of the Spring Propositions travel studio.
This year the themes of the studio surrounded urbanity and mobility within Paris, an excerpt from the syllabus for the Future of Commuting’ studio follows:
“As the 2024 Paris Olympics are becoming an important ‘infrastructure stress’ on the current transportation system, the ‘Future of Commuting’ studio will question all urban, architectural, cultural, and territorial issues related to the means of transportation within a French cultural experience.
Studios' outputs are realized through a series of assignments and the development of a design proposal. Design steps will precisely follow a typical design process as if Students will be entering a Design competition (Research/ Concept / Design development / Design representation)
The Studio will be a total immersion into the Metropolis experience as well as Professional environments. The Studio will incorporate presentations, lectures, site visits, private views of case studies, study trips, workshops; and encounters with ‘real-life’ Clients / designers / philosophers / politicians. Evaluation is based on desk-critics, weekly pin-ups and presentations, deliverables, and mid-term plus final term reviews including high profile invited critics.” Are you ready for the future?
